Acura TL Seat Covers

Not every rig in the driveway is a truck. Plenty of our guys keep an Acura TL around as the daily commuter, and those things will run forever if you change the oil. The seats are a different story. That low sedan seat takes a beating every time you drop into it, and after enough years, the leather on the bolster splits wide open.

Factory Match Acura TL Seat Covers For Worn Leather

Where Do Acura TL Seats Usually Wear Out

The driver bolster, the perforated center inserts, and the top of the seat bottom take most of the damage. Here's what we see on TL seats and why each spot goes.

The Low Seat Beats Up The Driver's Bolster

The TL sits low, so you don't slide in the way you do with a pickup. You drop down into the seat and push off the outer bolster to climb back out. Do that twice a day for ten years, and the leather on that bolster gets worked harder than any other spot in the interior. The finish wears through first, then the leather creases, then it cracks and splits along the seam. Most TL owners don't notice until the tear is a couple of inches long.

Perforated Inserts Crack From The Holes Outward

TL seats came with perforated leather in the center panels. Those little holes give the seat a nice look, but every hole is a weak point in the hide. As the leather ages, cracks start right at the edges of the perforations and slowly link up across the panel. Once you can see a web of cracks running between the holes, conditioner won't save it. That panel is done.

Sun And Heat Dry The Leather Out

A sedan with a big windshield and a sloped rear glass cooks its interior in the summer. All that heat pulls the oils out of the leather, and dry leather gets stiff and brittle. Stiff leather can't flex when you sit down, so it splits at the creases instead of bending. If your TL spends its days parked in an open lot, this is usually what finishes off a seat that was already worn at the bolster.

How Do We Build Our Acura TL Seat Covers

We build our Acura TL seat covers to match what came from the factory, from the leather and vinyl down to the hog rings and clips. Here's what goes into each one.

Leather Seating Surface With Perforated Inserts

Our Acura TL leather seat covers use a leather seating surface with vinyl side skirting, the same material setup Acura used in the TL. We build them for the TL Base and TL Type S, with perforated inserts and colors matched to the trim codes for each production year. The leather is checked against the original for color, grain, and texture before we cut anything, so the new seat doesn't stand out next to the rest of your interior.

Hog Rings And Clips Like The Factory Used

TL covers attach the same way your originals did. Hog rings hold the cover to the foam cushion underneath, and a mix of hog rings and hard plastic clips fastens it to the seat frame. We include hog rings with every TL cover, so you're not hunting for the right size at the parts store. Because the cover follows factory attachment points, it pulls tight and sits where it should without any rigging.

Digitally Cut, Hand Sewn, And Airbag Tested

Every panel is cut by machine from a digital pattern of the original seat, then sewn by hand by our crew in Plano. We sew 1/2-inch foam backing behind the leather seating surface and 1/4-inch flame-laminated foam behind the vinyl skirting for extra support. Before we sell any airbag-equipped cover, it undergoes deployment testing at a qualified facility to ensure the airbag fires as it would with an original cover.

How Do You Pick The Right Cover For A 2007 Or 2008 TL

Know whether you have a Base or a Type S, check your trim code, and order only the seat position you need. Those three things narrow it down to one cover.

Base Or Type S Makes A Difference

Acura brought the Type S back for the 2007 and 2008 model years, and those seats aren't trimmed the same as a Base TL. If you're shopping for 2007 Acura TL seat covers or 2008 Acura TL seat covers, check which version you have before you order. If you're not sure, the badge on the trunk lid or your VIN will tell you. We build covers for both, and you can see every TL option we make in our Acura Seat Covers lineup by year and submodel.

Your Trim Code And VIN Lock In The Color

Acura used different leather colors across TL production years, and some of them look close on a screen. Each of our TL product pages lists the trim code it matches, so you can compare it to your vehicle. Better yet, enter your VIN at checkout, and our team will run it to confirm the correct color before anything ships. Keep in mind that the sun can darken or lighten original leather over the years, so the new cover will match the factory color, not the faded seat next to it.

Order The Seat That Needs It

Most TLs only need the driver's bottom. The passenger side and the seat backs usually hold up well because they don't see the same in-and-out wear. Buy the one cover that fixes your problem, and come back for more later if another seat starts going. That keeps the cost down, and since each position is its own cover, you're never paying for leather that's still in good shape.

What Should You Have Ready On Install Day

A TL cover install goes a lot smoother when you set yourself up right before you start pulling anything apart. Here's what we tell folks to have lined up:

  • Watch The Video First: Run through our full-length TL install video once before you touch a bolt, so nothing surprises you.
  • Pull The Seat Out: Removing the seat from the TL gives you room to work and prevents you from scratching the interior trim.
  • Hog Ring Pliers: You'll need a pair to close the hog rings. We include the rings, but the pliers are sold separately.
  • Keep Hardware Organized: Bag and label bolts and clips as they come off, so everything goes back where it came from.
  • Give It Time: Set aside an afternoon instead of rushing. A patient install is what gets the cover pulled tight and wrinkle-free.
  • Call A Pro If Needed: Not into DIY? Our Install Locator finds a qualified shop near you to handle the whole job.

Every cover in our Seat Covers lineup is built to install with factory attachment points, so the job follows the same steps the plant uses.
