What is the Durofoam® Difference?

IGNORING THE PROBLEM

Is Durofoam® really worth it? It’s just foam.

Think about your seat foam like a pillow: over time, that pillow (which was perfect when it was brand new) begins to flatten out. It becomes less and less comfortable with each passing night. You might have trouble falling asleep, or you wake up with a sore neck. Eventually, you get frustrated enough that you replace your pillow.

Your vehicle seat cushion is the same. Without proper support, you’re in for a less comfortable drive, hip and back pain, and you’ll also cause damage to your seat cover. Investing in a quality foam cushion is worth it, especially if you drive your vehicle every day.

What's different about Durofoam® compared to my original factory foam?

Durofoam® provides a factory match fit with your original seat frame and seat cover, while improving comfort and durability. Durofoam® uses the correct attachment methods to connect to your original cover and will work with your seats existing heating and cooling functions (heating elements or cooling hoses must be transferred to the new foam cushion).

We adjust the IFD rating on each model to provide a more comfortable, durable cushion. Additionally, Durofoam® utilizes a reinforced backing on many models to prevent common wear from the seat frame or wire grid beneath the foam cushion.

Seriously, what does “IFD Rating” mean?

An IFD (or Indentation Force Deflection) rating indicates the surface feel of your seat foam. It's measured using the force in pounds needed to indent the foam by 25% of its original height. We matched the factory size specifications for Durofoam® but increased the density. In essence, our Durofoam® is denser and more durable so you can enjoy your ride for many miles to come.

Is Durofoam® firmer than the original (OEM) foam?

Yes, most customers find Durofoam® to be firmer and more supportive than the OEM cushion, and many remark that they find themselves sitting inches higher in their seat after installing Durofoam®. It’s designed to provide long-lasting comfort and better support.

Is Durofoam® comfortable for long drives?

Absolutely. Many of our customers report noticeable improvements in comfort—especially on commutes or long trips, mentioning relief from back pain and numbness after replacing their worn-out seat foam.

Is it difficult to install Durofoam®?

Installation is typically straightforward, even if you have no upholstery experience. Our foam cushions use the same attachment methods as your original foam. We also provide full-length installation videos that you can follow along with during installation.
