Renewing an old seat.

I ordered this cushion cover, and a new cushion foam pad, to replace on my driver seat in my 22 year old silverado with 293,000 miles on it. To be perfectly honest, the hard plastic velcro strips on the foam pad appeared to be a little lacking. But they had no trouble retaining the new upholstery in place while i was pulling, rather hard, to get the rear bottom flap to reach the seat pan frame and get it hooked on. It is a rather tight fit. After installation, my only real observations are that the new cushion cover is a slightly lighter shade or charcoal than the rest of the seats in the vehicle....however that could simply be due to those being as old as they are and having a glossy worn in finish on them, time will tell. The other thing I noticed, is that when I got in the truck to drive it, it seems the seat cushion is actually higher than the old one...again, could just be due to the old foam having been compressed over almost 300,000 miles of use. Other than those 2 items, it's all good. Good fit, nice and tight, very tight to get everything wrapped into place.

Oh, and I did have to cut open the side to provide for installing my power seat switch panel assembly and wiring, the cover I received did not even have so much as the hole for the manual lumbar knob to fit through, so that was a bit of a guess for where to cut....maybe a template for those options could be added for those who are not quite so experienced at seat repair(I am a 36 year auto tech, the last 20 with gm).

Overall I am satisfied, though some small things could be improved upon....such that I still have to do the seat back, and both parts of the passenger seat(which is also all power)...

Thank you for your valuable feedback, Mike! We understand that over time, the accumulation of dirt and oils can lead to changes in the color of your seat covers. Initially, we aim to match the color of your seat covers to that of brand-new ones, but as time passes, they should naturally blend in with the rest of your seats.

You're absolutely right about the foam in your seats becoming compressed over the years. This compression is why you may notice that your new Durofoam feels slightly taller. Additionally, we refrain from creating cut-outs for control panels because each person's seats wear differently, and some individuals may choose not to replace the foam, which could require different cutout positions.

We hope this information clarifies things for you. If you have any further questions or need assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out. Thank you for choosing The Seat Shop, and we hope you thoroughly enjoy your new ride!

Front seat covers, full set

I've really enjoyed the seat covers, they have performed well since my purchase in 2/2014 with one exception. About a year ago the thread in the stitching on the seat bottoms has given way, pretty much disintegrated. The leather itself has held up well with the exception of the driver's side seat bottom, but I understand that with the usage the truck gets. I will be purchasing just the bottoms again soon but that is my only complaint.

Hi, William, thank you for the feedback. We're sorry to hear that your thread hasn't held up. Please contact our customer care team at sales@theseatshop.com or call us (214) 710-2565.
